Most "Privacy Tools" lists are filled with affiliate links. This list is different. These are the tools that actually work, verified by the community. The Browser: Mullvad Browser (or Firefox Hardened) Chrome is spyware. Edge is spyware. Safari is spyware with better PR. Switch to Mullvad Browser. It's Firefox, but pre-configured to look identical to every other Mullvad user. Cost: Free Difficulty: Easy The Messenger: Signal If it's not Signal, it's not private. WhatsApp shares metadata with Meta. Telegram chats aren't end-to-end encrypted by default. Use Signal. Even Elon uses it (sometimes). Cost: Free The Password Manager: Bitwarden / KeepAssXC Stop using "Password123". Stop using LastPass (they got breached). Bitwarden for convenience (cloud). KeepAssXC for paranoia (local only). Cost: Free The VPN: Mullvad No email required. No recurring subscriptions. Pay with cash or Monero. They were raided by the police, and the police found _nothing_ because they keep _no logs_. Cost: €5/month The Hardware Key: YubiKey SMS 2FA is vulnerable to SIM swapping. An Authenticator app is better, but a hardware key is best. YubiKey 5 Series. Or a Nitrokey if you want open source hardware. Cost: $50 The OS: Linux (Mint or Fedora) Windows 11 takes screenshots of your desktop (Recall). macOS reports every app you open to Apple. Linux Mint is easy. Qubes OS if you are Edward Snowden. Cost: Free The Email: Proton Mail / Tutanota Gmail reads your receipts. Proton is based in Switzerland. Tutanota is based in Germany. Both are encrypted. Cost: Free (Premium available) The Cloud Storage: Cryptomator You don't need to ditch Google Drive or Dropbox entirely if you encrypt the files _before_ you upload them. Cryptomator creates a vault that looks like gibberish to the cloud provider. Cost: Free (Open Source) The Phone: GrapheneOS If you have a Google Pixel, wipe it and install GrapheneOS. It de-Googles the phone entirely. It is the most secure mobile OS on the planet. Cost: Free (Requires Pixel hardware) The Mindset: Compartmentalization The best tool is your brain. Don't reuse usernames. Don't post your location. Don't trust "free" WiFi. Action Item: Pick ONE tool from this list and install it today.
